Job Description

This position will work closely with collaborators in the Department of Physics and Chemistry at Prairie View A&M University. The team is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in crystal growth synthesis, physical properties characterization, and experience in neutron diffraction. The candidate will be involved in cutting-edge research focused on the growth of novel quantum materials and the exploration of their emergent physical properties.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:

• Synthesize single crystals of quantum materials using techniques such as flux, floating zone, and Czochralski methods.

• Characterize the physical properties of synthesized materials (e.g., magnetic, transport, and thermal properties) using various experimental techniques.

• Perform neutron diffraction experiments and analyze the data to investigate the structural and magnetic properties of crystals.

• Collaborate with internal and external researchers to explore the role of crystal structure on emergent quantum phenomena.

• Prepare scientific publications and present research findings at national and international conferences.

• Contribute to mentoring graduate and undergraduate students within the research group and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated experience in single-crystal growth and synthesis of quantum materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in multi-disciplinary research environments and collaboration with national laboratories.

• Expertise in advanced crystallographic techniques and software for structure refinement.

• Knowledge of neutron scattering instruments and their application to quantum materials.
