Job Description

The QTI Group is partnering with a Madison-based nonprofit to hire its next Human Resource Generalist. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Generalist will have day-to-day responsibility for HR functions related to full cycle recruitment, employee relations, performance management and enforcing company policies and practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implement new hire orientation/onboarding and employee recognition programs.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute HR programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, and refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Participate in employee engagement activities.
  • Partner with team to deliver world class performance, compensation & benefits programs.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively more responsible HR experience, preferably with hands-on experience in recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, and compliance.
  • SHRM-CP and/or PHR is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems (Paycom).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to envision hiring practices with a focus on equity, diversity & inclusion.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
