Telecommunications Apprentice Fiber Optic Splicer - San Antonio, TX

We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Fiber Optic Splicer. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience and valuable skills in fiber optic splicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Additionally, you will be an integral part of our team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure. Role responsibilities:
Meet customer requirements for work quality and project completion timeliness
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in the repair, maintenance, and installation of fiber optic cables under the guidance of experienced technicians.
Learn to identify and troubleshoot issues with fiber optic networks.
Assist in splicing and terminating fiber optic cables according to industry standards.
Safely handle tools, equipment, and materials, including loading and unloading as required.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in fiber optic technology.
Be available 24/7 during scheduled Bi-weeklyon-call rotation.
Present a professional image for the company
Protect company assets and mitigate risks
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, equipment, and tools
Timely completion of required documentation
Punctuality and a strong work ethic to ensure project timelines are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic understanding of telecommunications and fiber optic technology.
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a vocational program in telecommunications or related fields.
Previous experience in a construction or technical field.
Familiarity with basic hand tools and test equipment.
Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
Eagerness to obtain relevant certifications in fiber optic splicing and installation.
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
