Job Description



AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The Health + Science Studio in the Roanoke, Va office works on a broad range of healthcare, research space, higher education, and municipality projects for clients that represent both public and private entities. Our team works alongside an inhouse multidisciplinary team. We keep sustainable design integrated as much as possible in all the work we engage in.

In collaboration with design studio leadership, the candidate will work closely with project design teams and architects, managers and designers to design and assist in the execution of projects within the Roanoke region, nationally and internationally. Projects in the studio are design-driven and involve close collaboration with engineers, planners, cost estimators, and other technical consultants.

Job Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations
• Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables
• Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups
• Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required
• Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets
• May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project
• May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or other related field required
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices
  • Ability to clearly communicate with Clients and peers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technical skills related to visualization
  • Proficient in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and other related graphic software 
  • Enrolled in NCARB Architectural Experience program (AXP), formerly Intern Development Program (IDP) and actively seeking state Architecture Registration
  • Certification as a LEED Accredited Professional by the USGBC
